The old/new NCU box is cross-compatible to the old/new NCUs.

The new NCU box is mechanically prepared for certification in compliance with EN954-1/IEC61508.
.
The new NCU components have, in comparison to their predecessors
	the same NC performance,
	the same PLC and therefore the same PLC performance, and
	the same memory expansion stages and therefore the same option handling.
.
The NCU 573.4 (Order No. 6FC5357-0BB34-0AE1) is, in the new part and replacement part business, compatible to all (enabled) NCU system software releases.

The NCU 573.3 (Order No. 6FC5357-0BB33-0AE3) is compatible to the update releases in SW releases 4 and 5 and to all (released) releases in SW release 6 of the NCU system software:
	SW release 4.4: Compatible from Version V04.04.39 SW release 5.3: Compatible from Version V05.03.18 SW release 6.x: Compatible to all released SW releases/versions (when using other SW releases/versions, when spare parts are required, please contact your local Siemens office)

For the new NCU components, the additional fan module has been eliminated due to the lower heat losses of the processor.

A substitution mechanism for the new components has / will be set-up for all components in the new part business.
